Bringing Help and Hope to Children and Families Around the World
Emergency Food Relief in Kenya
350,000 people in northern Kenya’s Turkana County are at risk of malnutrition because of extreme and prolonged drought conditions. Not quite severe enough for the Kenyan government to declare a national emergency, little food relief has been provided by the United Nations World Food program and other international agencies. Many Turkana are going hungry. In mid-May, URI partnered with Harvest of Hope Africa to bring beans, rice and corn to the people. Click here to see our work helping the Turkana.
Kenya “Baby Love”
In partnership with Harvest of Hope Africa, URI is helping to support 20 babies and young children at the Under His Wings orphanage in Busia, Kenya. Some of this kids were found abandoned at the side of the road. We’ve provided food, clothing, beds, blankets, healthcare, milk cows and a chicken coop for them. Here the gather together to celebrate solar-powered electricity we recently provided to their home.
Let There Be Light!
These orphaned, homeless and at-risk boys of Kenya have lived without electricity ever since they moved into their GFE Center dormitory last February. Although they appreciated having a roof over their heads and beds to sleep in, they prayed for the one thing that was missing: electricity! Our generous URI partners, stepped in and the boys finally have light! This means they’ll now be able to do their homework, read and study at night.
