Mama Sandy’s House Now Complete

Three Months after the unexpected and sudden passing of URI director Sandy Earle, 100 orphaned and at-risk girls now have a safe home they can call their own. Mama Sandy’s House at the Guy Frederick Earle Center in Busia, Kenya is complete!

The girls moved into the dormitory in early January, but we lacked funds to purchase beds. So, the girls slept on the floor. Now thanks to some of our generous URI donors—in partnership with Harvest of Hope Africa, each girl has a bed and space they can call their own.

When you were a child, did you ever sleep in a bunk bed? Not only do these girls have a bunk mate that they can share confidence with, but they also have a space of their own which is important in a communal environment. The girls are learning pride and responsibility by caring for their own beds and they now awaken in the morning feeling refreshed, ready for the day and school.
