When 276 Malawians needed masks, soap and buckets to provide them with the proper hygiene required to protect them from Covid-19, they asked URI and one of our partners organizations to help. Some local seamstresses made the masks and we were able to give them the funds needed to purchase material and their labor. Each person needing a mask was given two—a spare one to wear while the other was being washed. We also provided nine buckets and three cartons of soap for hand washing. Thanks to our URI donors and our partner organization, we were able to help these Malawians—all of them too poor to afford to purchase masks and soap, Now, they are able to stay safe and follow the health procedures required to endure the coronavirus pandemic.
