Emergency Help-May 2020

Many countries may have been hit harder than Kenya during the Covid-19 global pandemic., but imagine what little you have in life—your home, possessions, crops, perhaps a chicken or goat or two disappear in an instant. Torrential rains in western Kenya caused flooding which left these women and children in desperate need of food and housing. URI partner, Harvest of Hope Africa stepped in to provide 300 people with emergency housing at the newly constructed chapel at the Guy Frederick Earle Center (GFE) in Busia. A team of volunteers followed government social distancing guidelines to distribute food to only ten people at a time. We can’t feed and house them permanently, but URI and HOHA are there, doing what we can to help these families temporarily n the midst of crisis by providing them with food and hope!
